Day two and I'm already behind. Hee. XD

But! Things were accomplished today.

*My story acquired a title!
*I came up with a VERY basic story outline that I can refer back to, if necessary.
*I actually figured out how I want the story to end! (this is a huge deal for me, as I STILL haven't come up with an ending to last years Nano story.)

Now, I just need the word count to reflect said progress.

And....we're off! XD

5 days until Nano starts. *fidgets*

I'm still waffling between my two story ideas.

In just ten short days, NaNo '08 starts at the stroke of midnight!

Those 50k words are going down...I hope. XD

It's been long November and there's reason to believe, maybe next year will be better than the last.



I know it's only 11:30pm and technically I do still have another half hour, during which I could continue to feverishly write, but I've decided to stop here. For all intents and purposes, this year of Nano is done. My final word count, is 27,351 words.

Despite what the Nano site has declared, with the purple winners sign next to my name, I didn't win. Why you ask, does the site then declare otherwise? Because technology clearly hates me. (I am never using the site's built in word counter again. EVER.) I followed the instructions and copied in my entire story and for some reason it decided to count it twice. It took me to the winner's page and while it did let me manually change my word count again to show what the final number actually is, the winner's sign refuses to go away.

It mocks me.

Anyway.

I'm proud of the work I did this month. I'm proud I didn't give up, when I suddenly got promoted to full time less than a week before the month started. I'm proud that I didn't throw in the towel when one of my co-workers passed away suddenly on the sixth day of Nano, even if it took me three full days to start writing again. I'm proud that I didn't quit when I got sick for two days and couldn't even look at the computer screen without feeling sick and dizzy.

Last year, I barely passed 1000 words.

This year, I wrote 27,351 words.

Next year, I will try again. And maybe I will win.

That being said, it is my intention to finish this story. sarinda has asked for a copy for Christmas and I can't refuse her. (Damn you!) So, I will need some help figuring out some of the details I need to wrap everything up. baensidhe and shibby_kiki, I'm hoping you're still willing to help me out.

Thank you to everyone who supported, cheered me on and tolerated me this month. I couldn't have gotten this far without you.

I can only aspire to be like you. 

It took 26 days, but I passed the 25,000 word mark. I am proud of myself.

And pointedly ignoring that I'm supposed to manage another 25k before midnight on Friday.

Tomorrow, I may actually paste a story excerpt. Maybe. Something new and different for me.

In news related to actual story content: the two scientists that remained mostly nameless, have both acquired names. This pleases me.

And now for something slightly silly. I sorta lost myself in writing with itunes open and didn't even realize I had the same song on repeat the whole time. In the time it took me to write 1000 words, I listened to the same song 64 times. *

* Ok, so the song is only a minute and 33 seconds long, but still. I'm amused. XD

baensidhe, I stand in awe of your ever growing word count. Seriously. :) You have become my Nano guru.

So due to an unforeseen and very upsetting event this week (which some of you have heard about, if you've spoken to me online or on the phone) I have now lost three days of writing time. >.<

I know this is early in the game yet, I still have lots of time to play catch up, but still...  It's worrisome.

On to today! Total word count: 10,301.

I HAVE BROKEN 10K.

Today's word count PWNS yesterday's. My total word count is now up to: 8,631.

For my own purposes: That is 2351words typed today. Hooray!

And now I go to bed. Cause I have a meeting with my boss today tomorrow.  Whoops.

... I regret nothing!

Not a good writing day. I'm only up to 6,280 words...

But I can't think anymore tonight so I'll try to make up the difference tomorrow.

Nano site has been down since early this afternoon, so I can't update my word count. Boo.

So day three's word count: 5,454 words. Not as high as some, but I'm still chugging along. :)

And thank you so much to my Nano muse, shibby_kiki - for knowing what I want to say and how I ought to say it, long before I've figured it out and helping me weave all those jumbled story ideas into something coherent. You're fantastic!
